Liverpool has encountered a major hurdle in the pursuit of SS Lazio centre back Stefan De Vrij.
The Reds have been preparing to make a bid for De Vrij after they were reported by Southampton to the Premier League for tapping up of their defender Virgil Van Dijk.
But Italian sources are claiming that Juventus might steal the defender from under their noses.
Juventus are looking for a new centre back after allowing Leonardo Bonucci join arch-rivals, AC Milan this week.
The Italian champions had to let the defender leave after his relationship with their manager worsened, they now have to sign a capable replacement that would help them retain their league crown next season.
Liverpool meanwhile are still looking to sign Van Dijk, and the defender appears to only be willing to move to Anfield, but the Reds have doubts that the Saints would want to do business with them again after the tapping up incidence.
De Vrij has followed up a good performance at the 2014 World Cup with some consistently good performances in the colours of SS Lazio since he joined them that summer.
