Italian sources are claiming that Napoli are ready to swoop for Arsenal’s goalie, Wojciech Szczesny. The Polish keeper has been away from the Emirates for the past two seasons, and has starred for Roma during this period. However, he is expected to back in England within the next few months.
Szczesny is still not guaranteed a starting place in the Gunner’s line up and would most likely have to leave the club again if he hopes to play first team football. He has been outstanding for Roma as they challenge Juventus for the Serie A title this season.
Napoli currently have former Liverpool number one Pepe Reina, as their first choice, and this move is reportedly seen as a move to replace him next summer.
Roma will try to sign him on a permanent deal when the transfer window opens, but if they do not succeed, they will move for other alternatives.
It is not clear yet if Arsene Wenger will give Szczesny another chance to compete with Petr Cech for the Gunner’s number one spot next season.
