Italian legend could be on his way to Chelsea this summer

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte wants Andrea Pirlo to join his coaching crew. Pirlo is currently enjoying what could be his final season as a professional in MLS with New York City FC. He is expected to call time on his career after this season.

According to Ray Wilkins, Conte who coached Pirlo at Juventus, wants the midfielder to start his coaching career at Chelsea.

Pirlo was one of the most sought after midfielders during his playing days, but he never accepted any of the several offers that came his way from England, preferring to stay and play in Serie A.

Chelsea wants to replace the departing Steve Holland with an English coach, but Wilkins believes if Conte wins the Premiership, he would be given the luxury of choosing who joins his back room staff.

Wilkins went on to reveal that Pirlo has been in and around Stanford Bridge a number of times this year and believes he is in discussion over a coaching role in the nearest future.
