There are reports that James Rodriguez is wanted by Arsenal, however, it makes no sense for the Colombian to agree to such a move.
It would definitely be a downgrade for the Real Madrid ace, he would not be playing in next season’s Champions League and as things stand at the moment it is unlikely he would be playing in Europe’s premier competition for some years to come.
Arsenal has fallen well behind the teams above them in the Premier League, their best players want to leave and in previous years their better players have left in order to win major silverware.
Winning FA cups is hardly going to attract the best players in Europe, being in the Champions League and genuine title contenders are how you attract the best players, something the Gunners simply cannot offer at this moment in time.
There is no guarantee that Arsene Wenger will be able to turn things around at the Emirates, he has failed over the last 10 years to turn Arsenal into winners again and there is no evidence he will be to do so in the next two years.
If Rodriguez wants to win major trophies there is a long list of clubs that will offer him more opportunity to achieve that ambition.
