Manchester United coach Jose Mourinho. has informed the club’s board that his top priority this summer is to sign a player in the mould of Chelsea midfielder N’golo Kante.
Despite seeing his strikers fire blank in the frustrating 0-0 draw with West Brom, Mourinho seems to be less concerned about his attack and believes a holding midfielder who can work for his team like Kante does for Chelsea is who his team needs the most.
According to reports, Mourinho believes his team’s inability to challenge for the League title this season, is down to them missing out on signing Kante last summer and wants that issue sorted out before any other transfer business is done.
Monaco’s Tiemoue Bakayoko has been linked with a £40 million move to Manchester United, so also is Tottenham’s Eric Dier.
Mourinho is said to believe that such a player would bring out the best in world record signing, Paul Pogba, and the fact that Pogba plays well when partnered with Michael Carrick, gives credence to this claim.
This should not be a surprise when one considers that all Mourinho’s Premier League winning teams had holding midfielders.
