Jose Mourinho has reportedly offered midfielder Michael Carrick a new contract. Carrick is in the final year of his current deal with United and had been rumoured to be talking to other clubs.
Carrick initially struggled to get into Mourinho’s first team, but has now become one of the most influential players for United on the field. The midfielder is said to also be a very strong character in the dressing room, and his performance is credited with the upturn in Paul Pogba’s form.
In another development, the player has urged his united team mates not to give up on their top four hopes just yet.
United are currently sixth and face an uphill task getting into one of the Champions League places, but Carrick believes there is no point giving up, as results of other teams could actually favour them.
Carrick has an immense amount of experience and with United set to sign a ton of new players in the Summer, they will need him to help integrate the new players, just as he has already done with the likes of Pogba.
