Tottenham’s bid to replace Manchester City new signing Kyle Walker with FC Porto’s Ricardo Periera has suffered a major blow after Juventus joined the race for the defender’s signature.
Mauricio Pochettino is looking for a new full back to rival Kieran Trippier after the record departure of Walker to Manchester City.
The Argentine manager has asked his club to get him Pereira after receiving glowing reports about his exploits in France. He has been on loan at French team, Nice over the past two seasons, and helped them qualify for next season’s Champions League.
Signing the defender appeared all clear for Spurs a few weeks back, but it is now complicated as Juventus considers Pereira a capable replacement for Dani Alves.
Periera is currently valued at £22 million by Porto, Spurs were hoping to sign him for £15 million, but with Juve joining the race, they would have to pay more to prise him away from Porto.
Tottenham is also keen on signing AS Monaco’s Djibril Sidibe after he starred against them last season, but Monaco has ended the sale of their star men and would not entertain any offer for him this summer anymore.
