Arsenal need all the help they can get if they are to overturn the 5-1 deficit against Bayern Munich and the signs are not good with the latest injury update concerning star man Mesut Ozil.

It has now been confirmed that the German international will not be available for the Champions League second leg match with Bayern Munich due to illness.

Ozil missed Saturday’s 3-1 loss to Liverpool with the flu and has not recovered in time to face the German Champions.

Arsene Wenger himself confirmed the news telling reporters

“I don’t think Mesut Ozil is ready physically to be in the squad tomorrow, he should be okay for the weekend. He only had one session yesterday.”

If the Gunners were to have had any chance of a miracle they needed all their best players fit and mentally prepared, but with Ozil definitely out and Alexis Sanchez in an unhappy place it is almost mission impossible now.

That said, Ozil hardly played a stellar game against Bayern in the first game and even if he were to have played there was no guarantee he would have put in any better a performance than he did in the first leg.

Still, chances are that the Arsenal fans would have preferred Ozil to have played in the hope that he would have put in one of his better performances, but that is not going to happen now.
