Steven Gerrard scored on his MLS debut for LA Galaxy as they came from 2-0 down to beat San Jose Earthquakes 5-2.
The former Liverpool captain scored with a low curling equaliser in the 37th minute – and also hit the bar, won a penalty and assisted the second goal in a Robbie Keane hat-trick – in his first match in the North American domestic league.
Gerrard played in two non-league Galaxy matches earlier this week, but a sellout crowd – which included former England team-mate David Beckham – welcomed him in an impressive victory for the defending MLS champions.
But the Liverpool legend has admitted he is already missing his former club.
As quoted on the Daily Mail website, he said: ‘I’m already missing Liverpool and the boys and being around the club.
‘I think I’ll have moments where I’ll miss home. It’s been part of my life for 26 or 27 years so I’m missing parts of home and some of my family – but I’m loving life here.
‘It’s a different challenge, it’s a great city to live and work in. At 35 it’s the perfect age for a different life experience.’
