Premier league defending champions Leicester City are now favourites to sign Middlesbrough defender Ben Gibson.
The defender has been impressing this season despite his club’s struggles in the relegation. He has led the club’s defence to concede less than Liverpool this season. Middlesbrough are likely going to be relegated this season, but he would surely not be dropping down divisions with them.
Liverpool and Chelsea were seen as front runners for the defender’s signature this summer, but new reports claim that Leicester are ready to add the player to their ranks for £30 Million.
Chelsea’s manager Antonio Conte thinks of the English man as the best replacement for the outgoing John Terry, and was preparing a deal worth £25 Million for the player.
Liverpool are still searching for the best defensive partner for Joel Matip, and Klopp believes that Gibson has the technical ability and speed to support the Cameroonian.
The source claims Leicester would complete the deal as soon as the transfer window opens.
It would be interesting to see if any of these top Premier League sides would be willing to counter Leicester’s bid for the defender.
