Liverpool and Man City have been given a boost in their bid to sign Barcelona goalie, Marc Ter Stegen. The German has indicated that he is unsure if he would still remain Barca’s number one goalie next season. With Luis Enrique set to leave the Catalans, it is possible that a new gaffer would not consider the current number one, who is prone to some costly mistakes, his first choice.
Ter Stegen is believed to be the man Jurgen Klopp wants between the sticks on a long term basis and so does Man City boss Pep Guardiola, who has also been linked with the 24 year old.
Man City tried to sign the Ter Stegen last summer, but were knocked back by Barcelona who instead agreed to sanction the sale of his deputy Claudio Bravo, to the Citizens. Bravo has not been impressive and it is believe that City are looking for his replacement.
The news of Ter Stegen’s availability might open up a bidding war between City and Liverpool.
Ter Stegen is still under contract with Barcelona until 2019, and would love to stay, but if he does not remain first choice at Barcelona, it is believed that he would likely be on the move.
