Southampton defender, Virgil Van Dijk is considering handing in a transfer request in a bid to force through a move away from Saint Marys and to no other club but Liverpool.
The Reds thought that they had missed their chance of signing the Dutch defender when they were accused of tapping him up, and had to make a public apology, but the player remains adamant that he sees his future only at Anfield and this has led the Reds to believe they can still get their man.
Van Dijk missed the second half of last season, but still remains one of the most highly rated defenders in the Premier League. At one time this summer he was the subject of interest from Chelsea and Manchester City also, but his insistence on moving to Anfield has seen his other suitors take their focus away from him.
The Reds are currently putting all their energy into signing RB Leipzig’s Naby Keita, but it is believed that they would come back for Van Dijk before the transfer window ends.
