Despite the strained relationship between Liverpool and Arsenal as a result of the transfer drama around Luis Suarez in 2013, Liverpool has made an official move to sign Arsenal winger Alex Oxlaide-Chamberlain.
The England international has just one year left on his current Arsenal contract and has not been able to agree on a new deal with the Gunners ahead of the new season.
Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp is a known admirer of Chamberlain and has informed the Red’s board to try and get him the Englishman. The German manager is looking to add Chamberlain to his attacking option which now includes Mohammed Salah.
The Gunners value Chamberlain at £25 million, and despite wanting to keep him, if Liverpool made a bid around that region, they might be tempted to sell him.
The Gunners are at risk of losing some of their players for free next season and Chamberlain is among that group alongside Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez.
Talks of a new deal have stalled as the Gunners focus on concluding their transfer business early. This delay in reaching a conclusion has reportedly angered the camp of Chamberlain who feel they are not being prioritised by the Gunners.
Liverpool is reportedly set to make an opening bid of around £20 million for him.
