Southampton defender, Virgil Van Dijk is one of the most sought after players this summer. The defender was on a very rich vein of form before an injury ended his season.

His performances were so good that he was linked to some of Europe’s biggest clubs. Now that clubs have started making plans for the summer, many teams have added him to their summer shopping list.

Manchester City and Chelsea looked to be leading the race for his signature, but Liverpool have decided that they would not just sit while their rivals sign the defender.

The Reds are planning to spend more than they have ever done before when this transfer window opens.

Jurgen Klopp recently spoke about not having automatic starters in his defence due to the injuries they have had to contend with this season. According to him, every spot in his team is up for grabs and every player has to prove that he deserve to start.

Liverpool fans wants the Reds to bring back Mahmadou Sakho, but the manager is yet to make a decision on the Frenchman’s future.

Regardless of whether Sakho stays or not, he still wants to sign Van Dijk. The German was impressed by Van Dijk’s performance in their 0-0 draw at Anfield earlier in the season. The Dutchman was the man-of-the-match on that day.

Liverpool are reportedly set to make a bid in the region of £50 Million for the player.
