Liverpool is still busy trying to get their first transfer deal done this summer. The Reds have been left frustrated by their move for AS Roma’s Mohammed Salah after failing to meet the Serie A club’s valuation of the player. They have also had to abandon their interest in signing Southampton’s Virgil Van Dijk after the Saints reported them to the Premier League.
They are set to experience yet another setback if Spanish media outlet Don Balon is to be believed. According to the source, the Reds have joined the race for Real Madrid’s James Rodriguez and are even ready to meet the Los Merengues valuation of the player, but the Colombian prefers to work with Jose Mourinho.
Real Madrid is looking to sell Rodriguez for at least £53 million, a sum that Manchester United believe is too big for the former Monaco man. However, Liverpool does not have any problem meeting that valuation of the player but are having a hard time convincing the Colombian that he can achieve his dreams under Jurgen Klopp.
Per the source, Rodriguez would only come to England if he can play under Mourinho, his other alternative is a reunion with Carlo Ancelotti at Bayern Munich.
