Reports have revealed that Liverpool target and Swansea City striker Wilfried Bony has signed a new contract at the club.
Liverpool were interested in the Ivory Coast striker during the summer, and were thought to be weighing up new January offers for the 25-year-old.
But Bony’s bumper new deal, which it is believed will make him the highest earner in Swansea’s history, extends his previous contract by an additional season, through to the summer of 2018.
Manager Garry Monk is delighted to have tied his star striker to a new deal in time for Saturday’s trip to Manchester City.
As quoted on the Daily Star website, he said: “These types of players are the ones that we do our best to keep at the club for a long time.
“But it is also important that we see a commitment from that player towards the club, his team-mates
“Bony has shown he is very committed to this club by signing an extension here.
“Bony has bought into the direction the club want to take.
“He is a big player for us and to tie down his future is fantastic news for everyone at the club.”
