Liverpool’s pursuit of Leipzig’s Naby Keita would have come under serious threat if Manchester City were also interested in signing the midfielder.
The Guinean has been a revelation in European football this season, after starring for underdogs RB Leipzig, and helping them finish as runners-up in the German top flight.
He is Liverpool’s top target, and the Reds are set to make an official bid for him after being quoted £70 million for his signature.
However, the midfielder appears to not consider Liverpool a big club. When asked about the team he would love to play for in the future, he told reporters that his dream was to play for Manchester City, Barcelona, or Real Madrid. According to him, he hopes that in the next two to three years he would be able to fulfil this dream.
Keita also revealed that a host of English teams was interested in signing him last summer before he decided to join the high-flying Leipzig.
Liverpool is still favourites to sign Keita as Jurgen Klopp looks to add more talented individuals to his team ahead of the new season.
