Liverpool has joined the race for the signature of PSG winger Julian Draxler, according to the latest transfer rumours.
The German has struggled to hold down a first-team spot with the French giants and his opportunities have narrowed further since the world record £200 million signing of Brazilian superstar Neymar. It was always likely that the 25-year-old would be offloaded either in January or next summer and now some of Europe’s biggest clubs are hovering.
Bayern Munich and Inter Milan are also reported to be interested in signing Draxler and will join Arsenal and Liverpool in monitoring his situation as the transfer window nears.
Arsene Wenger has long been an admirer of the German international but now faces serious competition from Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool, who will hope that he has the advantage sharing the same nationality as Draxler, though it will be money and first-team opportunities that will have the biggest influence.
Klopp sees Draxler as the ideal replacement for Philippe Coutinho, who is probably on his way to Barcelona in January, however, if Coutinho is not sold then that will be a huge boost for Arsenal in their pursuit of the winger.
