Liverpool, Man Utd and Chelsea have received a major boost in their pursuit of AS Monaco’s defensive midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko.
Liverpool have already had direct talks with Monaco about signing the 22-year-old and Chelsea and Man Utd have been in contact with the player’s representatives, however, French giants Paris st Germain were considered the front-runners.
That does not appear to be the case anymore following comments by the French youngster.
Speaking to the French media Bakayoko said:
“PSG is a club that I carry a lot in my heart because I am a Parisian and I was a supporter of PSG, just like my friends.
“They initiated me. The interest of Paris? It’s always fun, it’s PSG, I have a tie to this club.
“But I cannot leave Monaco to go to PSG. It’s impossible. Why? Because I just finished champion in front of Paris. I cannot go to the club that finished behind me.”
Well, that was quite categorical and it does more than rule out PSG, it means that he will not move to any club within France.
The fact that the player made them comments himself gives significant credibility to the rumours linking the Premier League trio with a move for Bakayoko.
If Bakayoko does leave Monaco then the chances must be high that he will end up in the Premier League next season.
