Jurgen Klopp is determined to get his way after repeatedly telling reporters that Philippe Coutinho will not be leaving the Reds this summer.
This is coming after reports in the Spanish media suggested that the Reds have set an asking price for Barcelona to pay. However, Klopp appears to be backed by his club’s board as they have refused to sit down with their Catalan counterparts to discuss the future of the Brazilian.
Coutinho signed a new long term contract with Liverpool in January making him the club’s highest earner. But he is said to be interested in moving to the Nou Camp, although he would not force his move through.
Luis Suarez swapped Anfield for Barcelona three seasons ago, telling Steven Gerard to help him watch after Coutinho, but the Reds legend has retired, and Luis Suarez is happy to be reunited with his former team mate.
Liverpool is hoping to challenge for the Premier League title this season, and Klopp has given Coutinho a major role in that quest, which he believes only the Brazilian can perform.
