Liverpool manager reportedly asks club to sign Barcelona youngster

Liverpool may be reluctant to allow Philippe Coutinho to move to Barcelona this summer, but that hasn’t stopped them from looking to sign one of the Catalan club’s player.

Reports yesterday are claiming the Reds have joined the race for the signature of Rafinha, who has apparently been offered to clubs.

The Brazilian who is the younger brother to Bayern Munich’s Tiago Alcantara has not participated in the club’s preseason so far because of a niggling injury, but he also may have played his last game for the club if Liverpool goes ahead with a bid for him.

The Reds want to sign him in a separate deal from the one taking Coutinho to the Camp Nou, but Barcelona wants to offer him as a sweetener to the move so that they can bring the price for Coutinho down.

Coutinho has not gone public with his desire to leave Liverpool, but many in the club believe he has privately asked Jurgen Klopp to allow him to leave. The German manager refused to disclose his private discussion with the attacker when quizzed by journalists earlier in the summer.

Rafinha is open to leaving the Nou Camp, and told reporters in Brazil that his future is in God’s hands, an indication that he is not too committed to the long term project at Barcelona. © 2017 Frontier Theme
