Liverpool are being linked with a surprise move for former Man Utd forward Javier Hernandez, according to the British tabloid press.

The Reds are looking to bolster their front line this winter after a recent injury to Philipe Coutinho and Sadio Mane set to jet off to the African Cup of Nations in January.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp, is concerned about his current attacking options and has apparently identified Bayer Leverkusen ace Hernandez as the ideal target to come in the January transfer window.

According to the Daily Mirror, Tottenham and Valencia are also interested, which could convince Klopp to meet the Mexican’s £33.5 million release clause before any other club makes its move.

Hernandez impressed in his time at Old Trafford until losing his place and has continued being productive in Germany since his departure from the Premier League.

The 28-year-old netted 26 goals for Leverkusen last season, and with his proven Premier League experience could be just the player that would fit in perfectly at Anfield.
