The Brazilian is the number one target to replace his good friend Neymar who is close to moving to French capital club, PSG from Barcelona. Liverpool wants to avoid the situation they faced when Luis Suarez left Anfield. The Reds were short of options at the time and had to settle for Mario Balotelli, who proved to be a very costly mistake, and as such, they have established contact with AS Monaco.
Their plan is to ask the French champions for Thomas Lemar, despite Monaco reluctance to sell to Arsenal. Liverpool expects at least £100 million from the sale of Coutinho, that would enable them to make an offer Monaco cannot refuse for Lemar.
