Liverpool target, Virgil van Dijk has been backed in his quest to force through a move to Liverpool by his national team manager, Dick Advocaat.
The Dutch defender has been trying to force through a move to Anfield after Liverpool indicated an interest in signing him this summer. However, the Saints are reluctant to allow another of their star men to join the Reds.
Southampton had reported Liverpool to the Premier League for tapping up the defender, the Reds had to publicly apologise and end their pursuit of the defender.
However, Van Dijk remains steadfast in his desire to move to Anfield and has been backed by his national team manager.
According to Advocaat, if a player can earn more than he does at a club interested in his signature, he should be allowed to move.
Chelsea has also established contact with Southampton over the signing of Van Dijk, but the defender is believed to want a move to only Liverpool at the moment.
He has refused to train with the first team to get his desires met by the club’s hierarchy.
