Liverpool reject Italians approach for midfielder as club legend hails summer signing

Liverpool is in no mood to discuss the transfer of their star men this summer. The Reds have been trying to add more quality to their squad as an obvious lack of depth almost saw them miss out on Champions League qualification last season.

Italian sources are claiming the Reds have had to turn down an enquiry from Serie A champions, Juventus for the young German midfielder Emre Can.

Can has just one year left on his current deal at Anfield, but talks are making progress and he is expected to sign a new contract worth £100,000 per week when he resumes for preseason.

Juventus were hoping to take advantage of his contract situation and sign him for a low price deal after earlier reports claimed Liverpool would listen to offers of around £14 million for him.

Meanwhile, Reds legend Michael Owen has talked of his delight at seeing Mohamed Salah wear the Red jersey of Liverpool. According to the former striker turned soccer analyst, signing Salah is the best piece of business done by any Premier League team this summer.
