Liverpool set to hijack West Ham move for classy Belgium

Liverpool are ready to join the race to sign classy Anderlecht midfielder Leander Dendoncker, according to the latest transfer gossip.

West Ham have long been linked with a move for Dendoncker but they have failed to nail down a deal for the 22-year-old. The Hammers were reported to be reluctant to meet the £20 Million asking price for the midfielder and this has opened up the door for the Reds.

That said, Liverpool will only make a move for the young Belgium if Emre Can departs Anfield in the summer, which does look very likely.

For his part, Dendoncker is reported to be keen on a move to London but with competition gathering, West Ham run the real risk of missing out on a highly regarded young talent.

Dendoncker’s contract expires in the summer and Juventus and Bayern Munich are also reported to be keen on agreeing to a deal with the young Belgium international.

It does look increasingly like West Ham have missed their chance, they could have signed the player last January but messed around with the bid, now they have Liverpool, Juventus and Bayern Munich to contend with and don’t forget that David Moyes side are facng a relegation battle as well, hardly the best attraction for a player.
