Liverpool tell Barcelona that they can forget about poaching star man
Liverpool have reportedly told Barcelona to forget about signing Phillipe Coutinho this summer. According to the reports, the Red told the Spaniards that the little Brazilian is not for sale.
Coutinho is Barcelona’s top transfer target this summer and they believe they can do business with Liverpool on the Brazilian because of their good working relationship that saw Liverpool sell Luis Suarez to them in 2014.
But the Reds are determined to keep hold of Coutinho as they try to get back into Europe’s top competition next season. Coutinho has returned to form after suffering a major injury last year.
It is believed that Neymar is desperate to play alongside Coutinho in Barcelona and has reportedly asked the club to sign the midfielder. Neymar has personally launched a charm offensive to try and lure his good friend to the Camp Nou. But, it would take a little more than that for Liverpool to be willing to sell.
The Reds took a major step to secure a return to the Champions League next season with a 1-0 win over West Brom yesterday, they would hope to win again when they face Crystal place at Anfield next week Sunday.
