Credible reports coming in the media indicates that Lukaku’s transfer to Chelsea is almost a done deal. Chelsea have been looking at a number of strikers as they plan to bolster their options this summer.
Lukaku is the Premier League’s top scorer and has informed his club that he would not sign a new deal. He is thought to be valued at around £70 million.
Chelsea’s boss Antonio Conte had reservations about signing Lukaku and preferred Real Madrid’s Alavaro Morata, But Sporting director Michael Emenalo wants to re-sign Lukaku who he believes is proven in the Premier League. Conte has admitted that Morata may need some time to settle in England and has now decided to sign Lukaku.
The race for Lukaku’s signature is heating up, with Manchester United also planning a swoop for the Belgian.
It seems to be the done thing these days, re-signing playing for a massive mark up and Chelsea do not appear to be too shy in going back for former employees.
