Man City are reported to be plotting to hijack Man Utd’s move for Real Madrid attacking midfielder Marco Asensio, according to the Spanish Press.
According to Spanish news site Don Balon, City is preparing to table an offer in the region of £88 Million, a figure they believe will squash any further interest from United.
Asensio is a top talent and under normal circumstances would not consider leaving the Spanish giants but Real are having a horrific season by their standards and it is being said that the young Spanish international would contemplate a move to the Premier League.
United had been linked with the 21-year-old but now that they are signing Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal it is thought it would be unlikely that they will be making a move for any more forwards.
That said, Asensio is very young and United may take the view that he is worth the investment from a long-term point of view, whether that would interest the player though is open to question.
