Both players want to leave, but UEFA’s decision to limit City’s transfer spending to £49million this summer, as part of their punishment for breaking Financial Fair Play regulations, has left the club with a tricky problem.
Premier League regulations limit clubs to 17 foreign players over the age of 21 in 25-man squads.
City have been forced to offer keeper Richard Wright, 36, a one-year extension as with Joleon Lescott and Gareth Barry both released, they are facing a tough challenge to fill their home-grown quota. Daily Mirror
