Man United get first big deal all wrapped up as announcement made

French International Patrice Evra has signed a one-year contract extension with Manchester United, according to the Sky Sports website.

The ageing left-back, who is on duty with his team-mates ahead of this summer’s World Cup, was widely expected to depart Old Trafford before the start of next season, having reportedly held talks with Serie A side Juventus.

However new boss Louis van Gaal is determined to retain some experienced heads in his defence, following the expected departures of Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand, and he has decided to hand Evra a one year deal.

As quoted on the Official Man United Twitter website, the Red Devils said: “We can confirm that Patrice Evra has extended his contract at #mufc for another year.”
