Manchester United legend Paul Scholes believes Steven Gerrard won’t be happy to have been rested for Liverpool’s Champions League defeat to Real Madrid.
The Reds put in a spirited performance despite being without the likes of captain Gerrard and Raheem Sterling who were left on the bench until the final half an hour.
And Scholes believes that the former England Captain quit International duty to play these types of games.
Scholes told ITV: “I think that’s probably why he gave up international football, to play in games like this. I don’t think he’ll be happy tonight.
“I think Steven Gerrard is capable of playing in this game and on Saturday (against Chelsea). It is Tuesday night, he’ll have two-day recovery, train Friday, play Saturday and he’s got a nice little two weeks off.”
