Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Javier Pastore has urged Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney to make a move away in a bid to win trophies.
The Argentina international sent a warning to the England star that he should be picking up silverware now, ideally with PSG, who have been linked with a massive £40 million move this summer.
United are heading in the wrong direction after Sir Alex Ferguson left, and with Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea all improving, it could be a long time before some more silverware heads back to the red half of Manchester.
And Pastore feels the Ligue 1 champions are equipped to provide the perfect environment in which the United hitman can thrive.
As quoted on the SportsDirectNews website, he said: “Manchester United are of course one of the biggest teams in Europe, but also it is clear they are going through a transition.
“I am sure they will have success again but maybe this transition will take three or four years. At the stage of his career he is in, Rooney should be winning trophies now.
“He is entering the best years of his career and I think PSG have made a clear statement that we are ready to win trophies now.”
