Man United stepping up chase to sign up £18 million rated Argentine

Fresh reports have claimed Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal is desperate to sign Zenit St. Petersburg centre-half Ezequiel Garay, according to the Fichajes.net website.

Van Gaal has long been an admirer of the Argentine defender, and hopes to lure him to Old Trafford in January.

It’s believed he’ll form a solid partnership with fellow countryman Marcos Rojo at the heart of United’s vulnerable defence, but could cost a sizeable figure.

Van Gaal is reported to have sent two United scouts to watch the 28-year-old during Zenit’s 2-0 defeat to German side Bayer Leverkusen last week.
