Chelsea and Manchester United have been handed a major boost in their quest to sign one of the World’s most talented footballers.
The two Premier League giants have been rivalled by AC Milan for the signature of Real Madrid’s James Rodriguez, but the Italians have backed out of a deal to sign him.
Rodriguez is undoubtedly one of the most talented footballers in the world right now and was the best player at the 2014 World Cup where he scored the goal of the tournament. His performances in that competition helped him earn a big money move to Real Madrid.
However, the Colombian has struggled for game time in the Spanish capital due to inconsistencies and managerial preferences.
Current manager Zinedine Zidane does not think highly of Rodriguez and has made it obvious by playing other youngsters ahead of the South American. James was even omitted from the match day squad at the Champions League Final, an act that many see as the last straw that would break Camel’s back.
Jose Mourinho wants to make James his top signing this summer as he seeks to add flair to his team. However, a move for the Colombian will likely cost a lot, but if he remains United’s number one target, they will go ahead and sign him.
