Manchester United have seen off both Arsenal and Chelsea in the race to sign the highly rated teenager Millen Baars from Ajax.
The 16-year-old personally confirmed the transfer via his Instagram account, disappointing Ajax, Chelsea and Arsenal.
Baars was the captain of Ajax’s B1 side, he can play either central midfield or on the wing and is seen as a hot prospect, his signature was highly sought after.
The most disappointed club is probably Ajax, they had talks with the youngster as his father Stefan Baars confirmed, telling Noordhollands Dagblad,
‘We have had talks with Ajax that were between Millen and the club,’
‘But it was certainly nothing shocking, he was even appointed captain this season of the B1.
‘Ajax is a great club with a very good youth, but they can unfortunately not cope so very well. You saw in the past with other youth players who now play at other clubs. But Millen was ready for a different challenge.
In better words Ajax just could not compete with Man Utd, the lure of such a big club proved irresistible to the young teenager.
Arsenal and Chelsea will also be frustrated at missing out on such a young talent, but they get their fair share of young talent, there will be other opportunities for them.
