Man Utd face Chelsea competition in their race to sign long term target

Manchester United had it all clear to sign PSG’s Serge Aurier last week, but they failed to complete the deal, and that has attracted a new rival.

Reports from France is claiming that Chelsea has joined the race to sign the defender after failing to land their own defensive targets.

Antonio Conte has been pursuing Alex Sandro from Juventus all summer but has made little progress with the Brazilian who is in line to sign a new deal with the Old Lady. He also lost out to Manchester City in the race to sign Danilo, this leaves him with no back up to his current full backs, Victor Moses, and Marcos Alonso.

Jose Mourinho who signed Nemanja Matic last week has failed in his bid to sign a new full back so far and has had to rely on Fosu Mensah who has deputised well for Antonio Valencia so far. However, Crystal Palace is keen on Mensah, and the Red Devils believe he needs to go out on loan to gain more first team experience.

Aurier’s career at PSG was thrown into major doubt when the club hijacked Man City’s move for Dani Alves, and left him at home for preseason. © 2017 Frontier Theme
