Manchester United are hoping to complete the deal for one of their summer targets this week. The Red Devils are set to go for preseason in the United States next week and want to complete the signing of the Spanish Alvaro Morata before jetting out.
Morata who has been enjoying his honeymoon after getting married to his Italian sweetheart this summer is Manchester United’s number one transfer target, and Ed Woodward is keen to finish the business with Madrid.
Morata scored about 20 goals for Real Madrid last season, despite not being the first choice, and Jose Mourinho believes that if he is given more responsibilities, he would thrive. The Portuguese manager gave Morata his debut while he was the manager at the Bernabeu and is keen on a reunion.
Manchester United are still interested in signing Everton’s Romelu Lukaku, but the Belgian has his heart set on joining Chelsea.
After failing to sign Antoine Griezmann and losing Zlatan Ibrahimovic because of a long-term injury, Morata is now the best option for the Red Devils.
Morata would become only Mourinho’s second signing of the summer after the arrival of Victor Lindelof.
