Ross Barkley is interested in following his former team mate Romelu Lukaku to Old Trafford after telling Everton he wants a new Challenge.
The England midfielder has decided not to continue his career at boyhood club Everton after they failed to qualify for the Champions League. The Toffees have made a significant investment in their playing squad this summer in hopes of convincing Barkley he can achieve his dreams with them, but Barkley seems to have made up his mind to join a team higher up the league table.
Tottenham remains front runners for Barkley’s signature, but they are currently unwilling to meet Everton’s £50 million asking price for a player who has just one year left on his current deal.
United have also been watching his situation, and Jose Mourinho may ask for him to be signed if he fails to land his main midfield targets.
Barkley wants to play Champions League football and believes that he would make himself a more respected player in the national team circle if he was playing at a top four club.
