The 26 year still has two years left on his current deal, but United want to tie him down to the club for the foreseeable future.
De Gea almost signed for Real Madrid two seasons ago, but the move happened too late after lengthy negotiations, he returned to sign a new contract at Old Trafford. However, Real Madrid seem to still circling around the player who is loved by their coach as well as the club’s board.
De Gea currently earns about £200,000 per week, but the club wants to increase that and make him one of the highest earning players in the team.
