Former England midfielder, Michael Carrick could reject Manchester United’s offer of a new contract it has been reported. The midfielder who has spent 11 illustrious years at Old Trafford since signing from Tottenham Hotspur, might be playing in his last season as a Man Utd player.
Carrick has won 16 trophies with the Red Devils, including five league titles, and is one of the oldest players in the current squad. Mourinho decided not to let the midfielder go when he was named as the club’s gaffer this season.
Even though the player is yet to be offered a new contract, Manchester Evening News has reported that he might turn down a contract, even if it were to be offered to him.
United chiefs are planning the player’s testimonial match slated to hold on Sunday June 5th. However the player is believed to have decided against signing a new contract with the Red Devils.
Whether he has decided to retire from football entirely or wants a change of environment, is unclear at the moment.
Carrick has played a very influential role in Paul Pogba’s upturn in form, with many believing that when the veteran midfielder plays, the French man plays well.
