Manchester United have turned their attention to the signing of PSG’s Serge Aurier after being frustrated by a lack of progress in their pursuit of AS Monaco’s Fabinho.
Fabinho in Jose Mourinho’s first choice right back, but a deal is proving too difficult to complete as Monaco seem to have closed up shop in terms of selling any more players this summer.
Fabinho is adept at playing both as a right wing back and as a defensive midfielder, a versatility that Jose Mourinho sees as very important to his team ahead of competing in four different competitions next season. But with the Fabinho deal taking too long, Aurier might be brought in by the Red Devils.
Aurier who has been plagued by controversy during his stay in Paris including being refused a visa to play a match for PSG in the UK has been left at home while the rest of his team mates jets out for preseason. He would cost the Red Devils significantly less than Fabinho.
AS Monaco want at least £40 million for Fabinho with many teams looking to sign the Brazilian, however, Aurier might move for just £25 million or less.
