After Real Madrid made a world record bid for AS Monaco attacker Kylian Mbappe, it appears they have opened a bidding war, with Manchester City set to match any offer that the Los Merengues would make for the teenager.
Mbappe is the most sought-after teenager in world football right now after making a stunning contribution to Monaco’s largely successful season last year. The 18 years old scored 26 goals as they won the French Ligue 1 and reached the semifinals of the Champions League. His performances have drawn the interest of some of the best sides in Europe but Monaco wanted him to stay for at least one more season.
But they are set to sell him to Real Madrid after the Spaniards made an outrageous offer for his service. Real Madrid has reportedly made an offer of £160 million for his services, a sum that would almost double the current world record transfer fee being held by Paul Pogba. Mbappe is also set to earn upwards of £250,000 per week in a six years deal, but Manchester City is prepared to match these financial offers.
The Citizens have reportedly promised Mbappe that he would be first choice ahead of Sergio Aguero and Gabriel Jesus.
