Manchester are hoping to secure a deal for Arsenal’s contract rebel Alexis Sanchez this summer. The Citizens hope to beat rivals to the Chilean’s signature by offering young defender Jason Denayer as a bait in the move.
Arsene Wenger is a long term admirer of the young Belgian and is believed to be making his own plans to sign the defender. Sanchez would still cost City about £50 million.
It is debateable if Denayer is enough to tempt Wenger, the truth is that it will require a serious amount of money to persuade the Gunners to sell one of their prized assets to a Premier League rival.
If Arsenal had a choice they would much rather sell Sanchez to a foreign side, the last thing they want to happen is that they strengthen a rival and weaken themselves, as they did with Robin van Persie when they sold him to Man Utd.
That Sanchez will leave Arsenal is probably likely, but who he will sign for is very much up in the air at the moment and offering a fairly unknown defender as part of the deal is probably not going to work.
