Manchester United were reportedly aware four months ago that Bayern Munich boss Pep Guardiola would not be joining them this summer.
It is believed that United’s chief Ed Woodward was informed in September, that a gentleman’s agreement had already been made between Man Utd rivals Man City and the Spaniard.
The Red Devils didn’t want the embarrassment of being turned down in favour Man City, so they decided not to waste their time.
Which of course now leaves the door wide open for another manager to be chosen. An announcement is excepted at the end of the season.
