Manchester United’s quest to sign Antoine Griezmann has suffered a major setback after it emerged that Barcelona is also interested in signing him as a replacement for PSG bound Neymar.
Griezmann declared himself 60% close to signing for Manchester United early in the summer and only decided against the move when Atletico’s transfer ban was upheld by the Court of Arbitration for Sports.
The French forward is close friends with Manchester United’s Paul Pogba, and United had apparently used “Agent Pogba” to lure his fellow country man to Old Trafford. However, the move is now being threatened by the entrance of Barcelona.
Griezmann was touted to join United next summer, however, if Barcelona sells Neymar to PSG, it is rumoured that they would bid £100 million for him this summer, and that amount might be too much for Atletico to turn down.
Griezmann has refused to commit his long term future to Atletico, claiming that no one knows tomorrow. He insisted that he is currently committed to Atletico ahead of the new season, but does not know where he would be in the 2018/2019 season.
