Manchester United all-time leading scorer Wayne Rooney is set to return to his boyhood club, Everton this summer.
Sun Sport is reporting that the Toffees have agreed on a deal with the England veteran, and are also close to completing a move for Arsenal’s Olivier Giroud.
To further lend credence to the report, Manchester United have left their record goal scorer back home while the rest of the squad jets out to the US for a preseason tour.
Rooney has previously stated that he would only play for Everton if he was to join another Premier League team.
The Toffees have reportedly agreed to pay his current wage of £250,000 per week until his first-year finishes and they would renegotiate for a lesser basic wage and other add-ons.
Rooney would likely line-up with Arsenal attacker Olivier Giroud as the Toffees are also close to signing the French man for £20 million.
Ronald Koeman has already started to plan for life with Romelu Lukaku as the Belgian looks to join Chelsea.
