Manchester United’s Luke Shaw limped off in their last game against Swansea City in the early minutes of the encounter, and it appears that Jose Mourinho is now set to replace him as his first choice left back for next season.
The Red Devils have targeted several players to help them fill that position, among them, Southampton’s Ryan Bertrand, Tottenham’s Danny Rose and Barcelona’s Jordi Alba. They have now received what might be a boost in their pursuit of the latter.
Barcelona left back Alba recently admitted that he is frustrated by his lack of playing time at the Camp Nou. The defender has been sacrificed recently as Barcelona have gone three at the back for their most recent games. He has started just 19 games for the Catalans’ matches throughout this season.
He admitted that just like every professional in the world his dream is to play in every fixture that he is fit to play. He reiterated his desire to remain at the Camp Nou, but if the situation persist, he would look for a move away from the club.
Manchester United believe that Alba would be a significant upgrade to Shaw, and his fitness record makes him a good investment.
