As Manchester United continue their hunt for an attacker that would replace the injured Zlatan Ibrahimovic this summer, the Red Devils have been linked with moves for several attackers, most prominently Atletico’s Antoine Griezmann.
However, after ending their pursuit of the Frenchman, and seeing their bid for Real Madrid’s Alvaro Morata turned down by the Spaniards, they have turned their attention to Torino’s hit man Andrea Belotti.
The Italian attacker scored 26 goals in the Serie A last season and has been linked to several top European sides this summer. However, Torino is unwilling to sell.
The Turin-based side added a £87million release clause to his current deal which he signed last December, and remain adamant that they would only discuss a move with any team that meets that transfer fee.
Manchester United have the cash to spend having been named as the world’s most valuable club recently. But, they do not consider Belotti worth that amount.
Belotti is only an alternative for United should they fail to land their main targets. They are also looking to sign Romelu Lukaku, but with the Belgian looking close to returning to Chelsea, they may have to return with an improved bid for Real Madrid’s Morata.
