Dutch giants Ajax is hoping to capitalise on Man Utd’s Cameron Borthwick-Jackson’s quest for more first team opportunities by making a bid to sign him on a permanent basis.
The young England defender failed to replicate his 2015/2016 performance on loan at Wolves last season and now appears to have fallen further down the pecking order at Old Trafford.
Ajax have sold Jairo Riedewald to Crystal Palace and need a new left sided defender ahead of the new season. They see Borthwick-Jackson as the perfect replacement for the defender.
Borthwick-Jackson is still just 20 and represents the ideal player for Ajax who has a reputation for signing young players and helping them develop their game before selling them to Europe’s top clubs.
However, Jose Mourinho has not made any decision on the defender’s future yet, and may well want to keep him.
The England youth international told reporters that Mourinho had informed him that he had a future in Manchester, but needs to leave on a temporary basis to test himself before making a move back.
However, it appears as though Borthwick-Jackson wants to leave permanently and is considering the approach from Ajax very seriously.
